Emissions Measurement
Yellow Tree values the highly accurate sampling of combustion and process stacks. While most of our emissions sampling work is performed for annual compliance purposes, we have also performed many scientific studies that go beyond mere compliance. For example, we have assessed the efficiency of various forms of pollution abatement equipment, compared the emissions from different biofuels, and assessed the influence of plant operation on emissions.
Combustion stacks typically need to be sampled for only Particulate Matter, Sulphur Dioxide (SO2), and Oxides of Nitrogen (NOx) but process stacks require a wide variety of pollutants to be sampled. Yellow Tree can sample for all of the pollutants that are required by the South African legislation – including Dioxins/Furans (PCDDs and PCDFs) and Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAHs). Few stack sampling companies can sample such a diverse range of pollutants. We have developed a relationship with a world-class European laboratory to make this possible.
Stack Emissions Sampling
Stack emissions testing is a legal requirement for many industries in South Africa according to the Listed Activities and Controlled Emitters legislation. Click to learn more.
Fenceline Monitoring
The National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS) identify certain pollutants, such as benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylene (BTEX) that pose a threat to human health. These are monitored at the fenceline.
Leak Detection and Repair (LDAR) Programme and Monitoring
Section 21 of the National Environmental Management: Air Quality Act (NEMAQA) requires the petro-chemical industry, amongst others, to develop LDAR programmes and then to conduct subsequent LDAR monitoring.
Consolidated Emissions Results
With our multiple testing teams and short lead times, we can conduct testing at all of your sites nationwide and provide consolidated feedback to head office. Our reports are comprehensive and simple to understand, even for non-technical people.
